Step 1: In pairs, you are going to investigate slope using books and rulers. One person needs to get two yard sticks and 3-4 books. The other person needs to print off data sheet for the project. Follow the instructions given for this lab.

Step 2: For the next activity, one person gets a sheet of graph paper or grid paper and a piece of uncooked spaghetti. Follow the instructions given for this lab.

Step 3: In your groups of two, you need to determine an expert role that each of you will take on. One of you will become an expert on developing a road. The other person will become an expert on the distance between the cities and the environments you are building in. After choosing your role, review your links with the other people who are experts in that area as well. You also need to print off your support page for your role below.

Step 4: Once you have become an expert in your role, come back to your group and present your findings to your partner. Answer the following question before creating your design.
How are distance and climate going to effect your design?
Take what you learn from your investigation in step 3 and draw your proposed highway on grid paper. Remember to include the distance between the two locations and why you chose this design.

Step 5: Take the sketch from step 4 and create a multimedia presentation to present your design. Refer to the evaluation page for specific details that need to be included.

Step 6: Get ready to present your project!! You will be presenting to the state highway department (the class).
