Red Ribbon Week—October 26-30, 2009
A week of fun reminders to say “NO!” to drugs, alcohol, & tobacco. Healthy choices help keep us safe from direct consequences (illness, disability, death, crime, etc) and indirect consequences (low grades, money & job loss, violence, children’s illnesses, etc) of using drugs. Friends don’t let friends use drugs. Friends don’t let friends drive (or ride with someone) under the influence.
All dress-up items should be appropriate for school. Participation comes with responsibility.
Monday, Oct. 26—“Follow your dreams by staying drug-free!” Wear pajamas (appropriate for school), robes, slippers, teddy bear.
Tuesday, Oct. 27—“Team up against drugs!” Wear your favorite team, group, or club shirt/cap.
Wednesday, Oct. 28—“Stay drug-free top to bottom!” Wear silly hat & socks/shoes.
Thursday, Oct. 29—“Use your head. Don’t do drugs!” Wear crazy, messy hair.
Friday, Oct. 30—“Say BOO to scary drugs!” Wear a Halloween costume. OR
“I’ve got better things to do than drugs!” Wear something to show your hobbies.
Hy-Vee of Bethany has provided red ribbons with the “Believe, Achieve, Succeed Drug Free” slogan. Daily treats for participants (PK-12) and coloring contests (K-5) are also planned. Activities are organized by North Harrison Smokebusters and the Fifth Grade Guidance class.
