FFA and Vocational Agriculture Career Development Events are heating up! These students will be hitting the road and competitions hot and heavy the next three weeks! Remember that practice times run in three time slots per day-- 6-8am, 3:30-5:30pm or 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Each student must complete the required hours of practice to be eligible for District Contest. "Day 1" of District Contest will be Tuesday, March 30 for Livestock, Poultry, Horses, Agronomy, and Entomology. "Day 2" of District Contest will be Thursday, April 1 for Agriculture Mechanics, Forestry, Meats, Dairy Cattle, Knowledge, Creed, and Speeches. (I attempted on the calendar to mark which teams are traveling to practice contests. Compare that information with the team members listed below. Departure times will be updated as we near the competition date.) The students are still competing for the four spots on each team. Currently practicing are as follows-- Dairy Cattle--Garren Gibson, Taylor Washburn, Sydney Lawrence, Amanda Law, Hunter Hamaker; Meats--Aaron Thomsen, Sadie Kinne, Morgan Hallock, Ryan Stanley; Horses--Justin Parkhurst, Levi Willis, Rhyan Johnson, Dylan Pottorff; Agriculture Mechanics--Dylan Pottorff, Kyle Parsons, Kent Parsons, Dakoda Grabill; Livestock--Aaron Thomsen, Ryan Cox, Steven Campbell, Tanner Bowen, Savannah Bennett; Forestry--Mazey Manion, Savannah Bennett, Audra Parsons, Erin Miller, Kadie Emig; Poultry--Lena Smith, Trisha Hagan, Tucker Bowen, Calvin Stover, Brittany Baker; Entomology--Rachel Thomsen, Brett Perkins, Nathan Hagan; Agronomy--to be filled by those eliminated from other teams; Ag I Speech--Taylor Washburn; Ag II Speech--Savannah Bennett; FFA Creed--Brittany Baker.

The 5th grade has recentlly enjoyed Wizard of Oz Day. It has become a tradition. After reading the book, by L.Frank Baum, we celebrate by doing various activities , plus watch the movie. This year, seven students dressed up as one of the main characters in the book. We made up math story problems with a Wizard of Oz theme. Pairs of students also presented dialogues (conversation between 2 characters). In addition to our "day" celebrating this classic book, the 3rd-5th grade field trip will be going to St. Joseph to watch a stage play of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. |

Parents, please take a couple minutes to go through this survey and let us know about the technology usage in your home. It is a short survey and shouldn't take long to complete. We ask that you only answer once per household and greatly appreciate your participation.

Last Saturday, Feb. 13th, nine NH 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders headed to Maryville for Middle School Music Contest. They have been working for a few months on vocal and instrumental solos, and were well-prepared for the judges. I ratings were earned by Hannah (clarinet), Samantha (trumpet) and Betsy (clarinet). Cooper (trumpet), Bobbie (flute) and Alyssa W (voice) each received I- ratings. Melissa W (voice) got a II+, and Brittni (alto sax) and Megan (voice) received II's. Congratulations to each of these talented young ladies!
